HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
About thIs Program
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) is a six months certificate program. The hands-on program teaches practical skills fundamental to providing direct professional personal care to frail elderly, disabled and sick persons in their individual, assisted and independently living group homes.
The HCA program curriculum at OASIS is Canadian. Admission and successful learning in the HCA program do not require prior knowledge of sciences but the ability to communicate effectively and provide nursing care empathetically within the prescribed practice scope and professional ethics.
At OASIS, the HCA students learn through in-class instruction and practical experience activities at OASIS state-of-the-art nursing labs, class work, clinical instruction and practical experience at senior/disabled homes and health facilities.

PROGRAM DURATION: minimum of 6 months only. Successful students can complete the program and get employed within one year.
PROGRAM DELIVERY METHOD: Blended ( on-site and online) . The blended delivery option provides an opportunity to work and study.
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION: HCA is a well-established and highly recognized nursing profession in advanced countries, including Canada, the U.S.A and the U.K. They are essential members of the health team.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE: HCA job roles provide opportunities to work in various healthcare delivery locations, including, Long term facilities, Seniors’ homes, Assisted Living facilities, Private homes, Residential homes and others. This makes the demand for HCA jobs high.
CAREER ADVANCEMENT: HCAs may advance their clinical nursing career to a Licensed Practical Nursing diploma.
At OASIS, HCA can advance their studies to the Licensed Practical Nursing diploma program through the Access to Advanced Nursing program.
JOB DEMAND AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNATIONAL-TRAINED HCA: There is a high demand for HCA jobs in Canada, the U.K., the U.S.A and other developed countries. HCA job is among the jobs in high demand in Canadian Immigration Program. Canadian institutions employ foreign-trained LPNs directly from their countries and support them in relocating to Canada with their family to live and work

C- Entrance score in the Entrance Exam.

Applicants with exceptional academic record may be considered for admission into two programs at the same time .Students admitted in the program will study courses for the two programs simultaneously and must meet all the expected learning outcomes of the individual programs. Successful students will graduate with two certificates; one for each program.
Graduates of the Dual Certificate Program interested in travelling and practising abroad may start processing the travelling document with the first certificate and update application documents when the second certificate is received . In addition to earning 2 certificates simultaneously and increased employment opportunities , Dual Certificate Program shortens the wait time to apply for traveling document.
– Health Care Assistant and Licensed Practical Nursing Dual Program : Successful students graduate with HCA certificate after 6 months and LPN certificate after 14 months .
– Licensed Practical Nursing and Degree Nursing Dual Program : Successful students graduate with LPN certificate after 14 months and HND nursing certificate after 4 years .
